Job Description: Safety Coordinator
Reports to: EHS Manager
Department: Safety
Summary Statement
Ensures safe working conditions for all people in the plant. Implements, reviews, and maintains safety procedures, programs, and policies per local, state, and federal guidelines.
Job Duties
- Implement and provide feedback on all safety procedures as required by law and standard practices of the steel manufacturing industry
- Organize and perform all safety audits (internal and with external agencies)
- Performs Analysis of job safety, HAZON and HAZOP studies, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment
- Investigates all accidents. Determines causes and responsibilities
- Prevent and stop any activity that may cause safety hazards
- Report safety statistics. Compares our progress with industry standards and suggests improvements programs
- Ensures that all personnel follow environmental and safety regulations
- Ensures compliance with all legal statutory requirements of Safety & Environment i.e. Pollution Control Board Consent, other permissions and Annual submissions
- Ensures performance of various pollution control equipment and plant
- Ensures to achieve Environmental and Safety objectives targets through reduction in incidents, unsafe acts, and accidents
- Prepares and maintains all safety and statutory documentation
- Ensures all personnel wear safety PPE
- Other unlisted duties will be assigned
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of Health, Safety, and Environment experience and responsibilities preferably related to the steel manufacturing industry
- Documented knowledge of Statutory and Legal requirements - preferably with OSHA 10, 30, or 500
- Should be able to communicate with co-workers as well as management
- Problem solving and analytical skills - managing multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
- Computer literacy
- Ability to read and write English fluently with demonstrated proficiency in grammar
- Frequently stands, walks, stoops, reaches, and bends to execute the job
