Job Description: Industrial Mechanic and Millwright
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Department: Plant Maintenance
Pay Type: Non-Exempt Is eligible for overtime pay
Summary Statement
The industrial mechanic and CNC Technician shall ensure that all of the machines in the factory are operational and that preventative maintenance programs are followed. The ideal candidate has experience in repairing CNC Machines, Overhead Cranes, PLCs, and other equipment.
Job Duties
- Responsible for the safe and proper maintenance of all machinery and plant according to manufacturer’s requirements. Monitors performance of machinery and plant in order to minimize breakdowns
- Ensures the availability of critical spare parts
- Installs, maintains, dismantles, overhauls, and repairs machinery and equipment, such as heavy mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, and hydraulic and pneumatic control systems, working from layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in an industrial establishment, using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools.
- Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
- Dismantles machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
- Moves machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
- Assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand tools and power tools.
- Constructs foundation for machines, using hand tools and building materials, such as wood, cement, and steel.
- Aligns machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
- Assembles machines and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures, using hand tools and power tools.
- May operate engine lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
- May install robot and modify its program, using teach pendant.
- May perform installation and maintenance work as part of team of skilled trades workers
- Other duties as may be required
Experiential Requirements
- Should have eight (8) years of industrial pneumatic, electronic, & / or electrical maintenance experience and responsibilities related to the steel fabrication industry
- Should possess a strong technical background in general mechanical, electrical and electronics fields
- Requires in-depth knowledge of CNC fabrication machines, general fabrication machines, lifting and materials handling equipment. Knowledge of computer controlled environmentally clean galvanizing plants would be preferable
- Planning, assigning, and directing work
- Addressing complaints and resolving problems
Educational, Professional, and Technical Requirements
- HS Degree; Technical or Vocational Training preferred
- Computer literate
- Exceptional collaboration skills along with communication, problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
Physical Requirements of the Job
- Ability to read and write English fluently with demonstrated proficiency in grammar
- Walk, sit, stand, climb ladders and stairs frequently
- Lift up to 50 pounds
